The Cubicle Survival Guide
Published by Random House, The Cubicle Survival Guide was my first book. It is an irreverent, practical, and humorous take on navigating the quirks of office life from inside a cubicle. Written at the height of America’s cubicle culture, the book tapped into the anxieties, frustrations, and occasional absurdities of working in modern offices. It offered both comic relief and real strategies for making the best of cube life.
The book struck a nerve with readers and the media alike. The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and NPR all featured the book, along with coverage in dozens of nationally syndicated newspapers and online publications. I was interviewed by NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday for a segment titled Tips to Survive the Cubicle Circus, as well as by NPR’s Colorado affiliate, KUNC.
Critics praised the book’s blend of satire and utility:
- The Wall Street Journal called it a timely look at cube culture’s challenges and ironies.
- The Washington Post highlighted its wit and practicality for the “office-bound masses.”
- Publishers Weekly noted its sharp cultural observations and humor.
The Cubicle Survival Guide was also translated into Chinese, broadening its reach to an international audience of office workers facing the same universal challenges of cubicle life.
Since its release, the book has remained a cultural touchstone for anyone who has ever stared at gray fabric walls, endured fluorescent lighting, or searched for sanity while navigating the “cubicle circus.”
